Effect of Carbonyl Cyanide M-chlorophenylhydrazone on Ciprofloxacin Resistance and Biofilm Formation in Hospital-acquired Uropathogenic Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae

Antibiotic resistant and biofilm forming uropathogenic Enterobacteriaceae are rising. This study was conducted to evaluate the efflux pump plasmid mediated genes in ciprofloxacin (CIP) hospital acquired Escherichia coli Klebsiella pneumoniae. Also, assess anti-biofilm action of carbonyl cyanide m-chlorophenylhydrazone (CCCP). Uropathogenic E. K. pneumoniae isolates were collected from Mansoura University Hospitals Mansoura, Egypt. The effect Sub- minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) CCCP on CIP MIC evaluated decrease factor (MDF) calculated. presence oqxAB qepA detected by PCR. strong formers. 56 47 CIP-resistant respectively detected.
